Justified Revenge

on .

Proverbs 24:17-18 (NIV 1984)
17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,
18 or the Lord will see and disapprove
and turn his wrath away from him.

Sure is hard to live this out at times but how true it is. It is easy to feel satisfied when a person who has caused you stress bites the dust. Yet they, like us, mess up. Oh that our love would be bigger and more powerful than their distain for us. That we might rise above revenge and self cenetered thoughts.

God Stands with Us

on .

Psalms 9:10 (NIV 1984)
10 Those who know your name will trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Thank you Jesus that you do not leave us to ourselves. But you stand with us. We may stumble and fall but you do not leave us. You never forsake us. Like a father or mother who lives their children, who never walk away but always love, always stand behind them, how much more do you stand with us and behind us. Never ever giving in to those who have turned to you.

Hearing God Speak

on .

And you said, “The Lord our God has shown us his glory and his majesty, and we have heard his voice from the fire. Today we have seen that a person can live even if God speaks with them. (‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5‬:‭24‬ NIV)

Yet today God speaks daily to us through His Spirit if we make room to slow down and listen. He speaks through creation, through people, thorough His written Word and through a still small voice. None of them contradict each other when it is His voice speaking.

Starting and Finishing With the Right Block

on .

Mark 12:10 (NASB)
10 Have you not even read this Scripture:
‘The stone which the builders rejected,
This became the chief corner stone;

What do we do with Jesus? Biggest question ever. Do reject him or allow him to be the  chief cornerstone? Is our life built upon him? Or is he one block among many? There is no god like Jesus. We can't add what we like about other gods, other religions, other ways of life, other standards, other world views, other world thoughts to the way of Jesus. He is either the starting block and finishing block or not. To add anything to this chief cornerstone is to water down what Jesus said. He is THE way. THE life. THE truth. To add means we will trip and instead of him becoming the Way, Trugh and Life, he now becomes the stumbling block that the builders reject. He doesn't fit OUR mold. The mold WE want. In short we take God's place. Sad day for us.

God's Love for us in Helping Us

on .

Psalms 28:1-3 (New American Standard Bible - NASB)
1 To You, O Lord, I call;
My rock, do not be deaf to me,
For if You are silent to me,
I will become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
3 Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with those who work iniquity,
Who speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.

Psalms 28:6-9 (New American Standard Bible - NASB)
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Because He has heard the voice of my supplication.
7 The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart exults,
And with my song I shall thank Him.
8 The Lord is their strength,
And He is a saving defense to His anointed.
9 Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;
Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.

God does want to be with us. He does want to help us and save us. Though at times we do stupid things, God is a saving God not a God who wishes ill on his people. How Great is our God!
