Consistent Faith

Exodus 14:11 (NASB)
11 Then they said to Moses, “Is it because there were no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you dealt with us in this way, bringing us out of Egypt?

Israel just finished seeing God do miracle after miracle only to forgets few days later.  Do we recognize all the ways God leads us only to forget it the next instance and feel that because of the current circumstance, God can't be with us? I know I do. If he has led us, why do we wonder why he will not be with us right now and in the future? Fickleness hasn't changed over thousands of years. Many of us still lose sight of his power to hold us - always - everyday!

Knowing What to Look For

on .

Exodus 13:22 (NASB)
22 He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

God gives what we need for direction. It will look different. Not the same. Sometimes he uses easily distinguishable things like fire and other times he his a little more mysterious and use a cloud. But when you know what to look for, his presences is there. Always there.

Patient Listening of Jesus

on .

Luke 24:15-17 (NASB)
15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus Himself approached and began traveling with them. 16 But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him. 17 And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad.

Jesus loves to hear our stories. Stories about him and his work. Often times he wants us to process what we are thinking. What we see. That can happen through journaling or in a small group of sighs friend or spouse. Then he begins to work and lead us to a new understanding of who he is. Helps us to have a clear picture of what He is doing and then gives us to ears to hear.  Oh that our hearts may burn with the words of Jesus and the reality of His life in us.

Dealing with an Explosive Situation

on .

Luke 20:22-25 (NASB) 22 Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 23 But He detected their trickery and said to them, 24 “Show Me a denarius. Whose likeness and inscription does it have?” They said, “Caesar’s.” 25 And He said to them, “Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Jesus was brilliant in turning a tough situation into a cake walk. Unbelievable in how a powder keg could be diffused by a simple question. He doesn't push his agenda. Didn't force things or go head to head. Lord help me to see and be as wise as Jesus.

10% or 1 in 10?

on .

Luke 17:17 (NASB)
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they?

Is 10% the number of times we give thanks to God for something he does for us? 10 lepers were healed and only one was truly grateful. How much does God do for us, that we express no or very limited thankfulness for? Do we take him for granted? Do we miss the miraculous? Lord open our eyes to see you. To see your fingerprints. Your handiwork. To be thankful.
