Cravings verses Satisfatlction

on .

1 John 2:16-17 (NLT)
16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

The world overs cravings never satisfactions. That only comes through Jesus. He is the only thing or person that will ever satisfy and yet how good the world looks and yet never fully delivers.

Demonstration of Love?

on .

1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)
9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

It is amazing how much God loves us. The sacrifice he made to demonstrate his love for us is beyond anything we could imagine. Yet how do we demonstrate our love for others? What are willing to sacrifice?

Losing our grip on power

on .

John 3:30 (NLT) 30 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

How easy it is to make life about us. To ensure that it revolves around us and that others see the importance of who we are and what we do. When things get going really well, and people start patting us on the back, it is easy to think we are someone who is more important than we are and that it matters about us. Rather it doesn't. It is about serving the people. Serving Jesus. But we make it about us. Jesus ALWAYS must be front and centre. His purposes and His ways. Sometimes it is easy to lose the importance of what Jesus calls us to. Making HIM known. That HE must become greater and the WE must become LESS!

Taking Jesus up on His Offer

on .

John 4:10 (NLT) 10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

John 4:13-14 (NLT) 13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again.14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

Am I satisfied with what I have? Or do I want more? Do I even know what Jesus fully offers me?

Speaking in Favour of Jesus

on .

John 7:13 (NLT) 13 But no one had the courage to speak favorably about him in public, for they were afraid of getting in trouble with the Jewish leaders.

Jesus often doesn't call us to preach but to speak favorably about him. Yet so often we feel we need to unload the whole truck. Maybe we just need to speak favorably - a few words about Jesus. Not be his defense counsel. Just give a witness. "I don't know lots about Jesus, but this I do know....!" Who can argue with a testimony of how Jesus has changed us!
