Indestructible Life

on .

Hebrews 7:16 (NLT)
16 Jesus became a priest, not by meeting the physical requirement of belonging to the tribe of Levi, but by the power of a life that cannot be destroyed.

How often we forget that our lives can not be destroyed. They have been bought withdraw blood of Jesus. If he has changed us and is working in us, why he stop all of a sudden? No He who began a good work will carry it through.

Embracing Suffering

Hebrews 5:8 (NLT)
8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered.

If suffering was beneficial to Jesus, why do we seek to live without it?

Serving Others Knowing You Don't Know

on .

Hebrews 5:2  (NLT)
2 And he is able to deal gently with ignorant and wayward people because he himself is subject to the same weaknesses.

it is interesting that the high priest, though he is God's chosen leader and has special position, does not guarantee he knows all. Ignorance is not something certain people have a corner on the market. We are all in the same boat when it comes to knowing God. There are times I feel I know a certain truth and have been pretty cocky about knowing that truth. However God has often lowered me rather quickly and shown me that knowing doesn't equate with being better. Nor does it mean I am an smarter. And more often, when I think I know something, I find out I know very little about that. The more I think I know, the more I realize I don't. And even in that realization , the reality is that I know even less then I know I don't know. Humility is really shared ignorance. It means serving others who know as little as we do. That is a hard place to get to and to stay in and even hardier area to serve from. That is where high priests served from. That is where all of us ordinary people need to serve from as well.

God's work - Our work

on .

Colossians 1:29 (NLT)
29 That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.

The amazing grace of God. It saves us, changes us, empowers us, carries us, works within us. Because of that, because of what he has done for me, I long to do all I can to allow that power to work it's way out through me to others. So I strive, I work, not for my salvation, but for the sake of others and to ensure that I don't grieve God. He won't disown me if I trip and fall and sin. But he will weep if I do.

Father, Empower me further to glorify your name and I will work hard at trusting your grace, at resting in your provision for each step, as tough as each step is. You have done your work. I can't add to it, but let me not take away from it and let me be a apart of others discovering it as well.

Greater Miracle of Grace

on .

Ephesians 2:19-21 (NLT)
19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.21 We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.

God takes us as individuals and makes us one. It isn't about living independently, just me and God.  as great a miracle of God saving us is there is still one greater. For the greater miracle of grace is that he puts us together and makes one out of incredible diversity. Jew and Gentile. Young and old. People from all nations, races, and languages. Different preferences on vehicles we drive, occupations, hair styles, clothing preferences, income levels, health issues and ... And then makes us one. United us in Jesus. Now if that is not amazing and a miracle, what is?
