Blindness

Isaiah 47:10 (New Living Translation - NLT)

10 “You felt secure in your wickedness. ‘No one sees me,’ you said. But your ‘wisdom’ and ‘knowledge’ have led you astray, and you said, ‘I am the only one, and there is no other.’

Pride is an ugly and scary elusive and unseen creature. It blinds us to our weakness. Never allows us to hear from others, learn from others, and change any opinion we might hold. Our experience feeds our pride, feeds our "wisdom" and elevates "us" to new heights of recognition. In the end, God humbles us, for it is always and only about Him. Never us.

The need we have for each other...

on .

Hebrews 12:15 (NLTse)

"Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many."

Look after each other. Help each other guard against the roots of bitterness - wow!!! How true is that. Bitter roots. They are so common. We need each other. But often push each other away. May God allow us to see how badly we need each other for protection against such susceptible and seemingly justifiable traps of the enemy.

Someone who speaks truth to ME!

on .

People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬ NLT) It is hard to hear truth from others. I know I don't like to look like a fool but in not wanting to be a fool and ignore others wisdom, I end looking like the very thing I didn't want to be - a fool! Ouch!

Truth verses Control

Isaiah 8:11-14a (NLTse)
11 The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said,
12 “Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do,
and don’t live in dread of what frightens them.
13 Make the Lord of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life.
He is the one you should fear.
He is the one who should make you tremble.
14 He will keep you safe.

We live in a world that is dominated by media. Media determines what we are told is true and we will believe to be true. What is really true, is irrelevant. Fear, anxiety, conspiracy... All kinds of things rule our world. Yet simply, we are called to trust. To walk with him. Do not fear! Trust me! That takes effort on our part - to believe.
